Today I am going to celebrate. I m choosing to make sure I have a good day. It’s not always that easy but when you have anxiety and depression you must celebrate the good days. I have been having a rough week or two and today I feel more like myself.

Lately, I have felt as though I don’t have control in my life. The truth of the matter is I must remember is we do have control in our lives. Having anxiety and depression feels horrible and you’re going to have bad days, but you have to learn to celebrate the good. It can be so easy sometimes to just consume yourself in all the negative things that are going on. Choosing joy can honestly be bitch to do at times.

Choosing a better mindset is better than staying in such a negative feeling. Especially when you have both anxiety and depression you feel as though you are flooded with all sorts of emotions. You do not know which way is up. You keep asking yourself when I will just get out of this funk. Logically you know it will get better, but it feels never-ending.

When you are in a situation that feels hopeless and never-ending you just feel like giving up. From personal experience, I get where you are coming from but do not give up. It will get better.

Self-care for me is something that I find so incredibly important. There is a lot to be said taking time to yourself to regroup.

Writing for me seems to be helpful. I want to help others like me especially women who are single moms and have a hard time dealing with mental illness that they are not alone.

Here are some things that I find helpful when I need to get out of my head. I am not a medical provider of any kind make sure you seek a properly credential expert in the field. I am just stating what has seemed to work for me. This does not always work for me, but it will usually take the edge off of what I am feeling for a little bit.

  • Listen to some music. Sometimes all you need is some good tunes to get you in the right headspace.
  • Take a warm bath. Taking a warm bath can help relieve some of your anxiety levels. I know I have been overboard shaking with anxiety and it at least settled me down a little bit.
  • Move your body. Sometimes you just got to get up and shake it out. It does not have to look perfect. Heck, I ‘m a horrible dancer; but just jumping up and down freely and not thinking about anything of it can feel free.
  • This is something I recently started doing from reading other articles and having a nurse tell me about it. If you count numbers out of order it will help refocus your brain on that instead of what you’re feeling current. This does not always work for me, but when it does it’s extremely helpful.

Whatever you’re going through just seek help and know there will be a happy period no matter how hard it is to believe right now. Don’t ever forget to CELEBRATE. Even the smallest moments matter. I think life is about celebration. You know what you are facing so don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishments.
